Umer Nasir, a radiologist and teacher, views life through a unity lens. In every medical scan, he’s reminded that beneath the skin, no image reveals race, nationality, or creed.

Born in Pakistan, his childhood curiosity led him to question religion, society, and the nature of God, eventually finding medicine where science meets art. His career flourished at home, but the longing for freer thought took him to England in 2018, then to Canada.

In Vancouver, he embraced diversity — “a bouquet of colours and stories.” A radiologist’s role that includes teaching at Queen’s University brought him to Kingston, where the lake’s gentle waves, calm pace, and friendships made the city grow on him.

Umer believes culture is fluid and borders are blurred. Pakistan remains in his heart, but Canada is home, the place that gave him freedom. His motto: bring peace and joy, and leave a small light in others’ lives.
